Watch this video from today's Meet the Press in which host David Gregory tries to pull what should be an easy straight-forward answer from Eric Cantor about President Obama's citizenship. First Cantor says that Birtherism was a media concoction which is a total fabrication. If you look at the history of this movement, you find it originating from far right-wing elements; second, several (all Republicans) Congressional members have indicated at one time or another that they doubt the President’s citizenship, including Virginia’s own Bob Goodlatte. Instead of showing leadership and dismissing these claims out of hand, Cantor says that it’s not nice to call people ‘crazy’. It appears to me that Cantor is wishy-washy on this issue because he doesn’t want to lose the support of the (let’s call it like it is) crazies who have helped vote him in and keep him in office.
