I started to title this entry
Courageous Tom Perriello for his frank dialogue with constituents including open townhall meetings, something many others up for election have refused to do. But, the more I thought about it, why should we label our representatives courageous for doing what they should be doing? The truth is, we have a lot of politicians who shouldn't be holding office because they are cowards when it comes to telling the truth, taking stands to represent their constituents' interests, and upholding the Constitution. The people in the 5th Congressional District are lucky to have a congressman like Tom Perriello who is not afraid to spar with dissenting and a few disagreeable audience members in front of both local and national media.
From the reporting of last night's meeting in Danville, it is obvious that he doesn't back away from his positions, but tries to explain the reasoning for his votes so that voters have information other than the misleading Republican sound bites poised to create knee-jerk emotional reactions.
